Dinacharya: The Ayurvedic Daily Wellness Routine

Align your body clock with nature using the ancient Ayurvedic science of Dinacharya for sustained health and energy.

What is Dinacharya?

In Ayurveda, Dinacharya (Dina = day, Charya = activity) is a daily regimen designed to align our biological clock with the rhythms of nature. Operating in sync with these cycles stabilizes digestion, clears toxins, balances hormones, and cultivates mental clarity.

The Ayurvedic Daily Timeline

Phase 1: Morning Cleansing (5:00 AM - 8:00 AM)

  • Brahma Muhurta (Waking Up): Wake up 45-60 minutes before sunrise when the atmosphere is rich in prana.
  • Ushapan (Hydration): Drink a glass of warm water to stimulate bowel movements.
  • Tongue Scraping (Jihwa Nirlekhan): Use a copper scraper to remove overnight toxic accumulation (Ama).
  • Oil Pulling (Gandusha): Swish warm sesame or coconut oil in the mouth for 5-10 minutes to strengthen gums and extract oral bacteria.
  • Abhyanga (Self-Massage): Massage your body with warm herbal oil to soothe the nervous system.

Phase 2: Activation & Nourishment (8:00 AM - 1:00 PM)

  • Sadhana (Yoga & Breathwork): Practice 30-45 minutes of asanas and pranayama.
  • Lunch (The Main Meal): Have your largest meal between 12:00 PM and 1:30 PM when the solar digestive energy (Jatharagni) is at its peak.

Phase 3: Wind Down & Rest (6:00 PM - 10:00 PM)

  • Light Dinner: Eat a light, warm dinner by 7:00 PM to ensure proper digestion before sleep.
  • Triphala Ritual: Take Triphala powder with warm water to support bowel health.
  • Circadian Sleep: Go to bed by 10:00 PM to allow the body to enter its deep regenerative cycle.
